National Sheriffs’ Association Recognizes LSU’s NCBRT/Academy of Counter-Terrorist Education’s Active Shooter Training

BATON ROUGE – LSU’s National Center for Biomedical Research and Training/Academy of Counter-Terrorist Education, or LSU NCBRT/ACE, law enforcement training program has recently been recognized as a high-quality training program by the National Sheriffs’ Association.
The National Sheriffs' Association, or NSA, is dedicated to serving the Office of Sheriff and its affiliates through law enforcement education and training, and through the provision of general law enforcement informational resources. NSA represents thousands of sheriffs, deputies and other law enforcement, public safety professionals and concerned citizens nationwide.
The NSA recognition demonstrates the organization’s confidence in LSU NCBRT/ACE’s training product. The NSA has recognized that this is the highest level quality training that can be provided to prepare the nation’s law enforcement and first responders for challenges they may face.
Of the 11 law enforcement training courses recognized by the NSA, the Law Enforcement Active Shooter Emergency Response, or LASER, and the Critical Decision Making for Complex Coordinated Attacks courses are the most highly demanded courses offered by LSU NCBRT/ACE. These two courses aim to increase the capabilities of law enforcement and emergency responders to respond to an active shooter or active threat incident. In addition to receiving this recognition from the NSA, several states have adopted the LASER program as their statewide active shooter training program.
LSU NCBRT/ACE delivers specialized training to the nation’s emergency responders and works diligently to achieve unmatched quality in all class deliveries. Recognition by the NSA is a testament to the quality, professionalism and value of the DHS-funded training courses provided by LSU NCBRT/ACE. With more than 300 national experts serving as instructors, LSU NCBRT/ACE provides instructor-led courses directly to requesting agencies or departments at their local jurisdiction.

The training programs provided by LSU NCBRT/ACE are funded through a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with the United States Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency’s National Training and Education Division.
