MPOETC Approval Expands Advanced Training Opportunities for Pennsylvania Law Enforcement

February 16, 2026

Baton Rouge, LA — Law enforcement officers across Pennsylvania now have expanded access to nationally recognized DHS/FEMA-certified training designed to strengthen readiness for today’s most complex threats. Through newly granted approval by the Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission (MPOETC), Pennsylvania officers who are Act 120-certified can receive in-service Continuing Law Enforcement Education (CLEE) credit hours for several LSU National Center for Biomedical Research and Training/Academy of Counter-Terrorist Education (LSU NCBRT/ACE) courses.

CLEE courses provide an important pathway for officers to apply approved elective hours toward advanced specialized courses that strengthen prevention, response, and coordination during high-risk incidents, ranging from active shooter and active threat response to complex coordinated attacks, campus emergencies, and CBRNE response.

With MPOETC approval, Pennsylvania officers can more efficiently access advanced training that strengthens individual performance while also supporting safer, more resilient communities across the Commonwealth. The newly approved LSU NCBRT/ACE course portfolio includes:

  • PER-275 Law Enforcement Active Shooter Emergency Response
  • PER-335 Critical Decision Making for Complex Coordinated Attacks
  • PER-340 Active Threat Integrated Response Course
  • PER-383 Document Inspection
  • MGT-324 Campus Emergencies Prevention, Response, and Recovery
  • PER-222 Public Safety CBRNE Response – Sampling Techniques and Guidelines

These courses reflect the evolving operational realities facing law enforcement and public safety agencies nationwide. Training topics include rapid law enforcement deployment during active shooter incidents, integrated response between law enforcement, fire, and EMS, and decision-making during complex coordinated terrorist attacks that may exceed conventional response tactics and require joint, multi-jurisdictional operations.

The portfolio also strengthens frontline capabilities in areas that support daily public safety operations and long-term community resilience. This includes training that improves officers’ ability to identify fraudulent identification and travel documents, navigate complex campus emergency incidents, and support coordinated response operations during CBRNE events—where responder safety, scene assessment, and forensically valid sampling practices are critical.

The MPOETC CLEE certification for these courses is valid through December 31, 2027, and is eligible for Act 120–certified participants only. To ensure officers receive proper CLEE credit, course completion certificates must include the CLEE number, MPOETC-approved logo, course title, course date, and the number of approved credit hours.

Most importantly, this approval ensures Pennsylvania law enforcement officers can earn CLEE credit while completing training aligned with national DHS/FEMA standards, strengthening readiness, supporting professional development, and expanding access to specialized gold-standard instruction, vital to strengthening public safety across the Commonwealth’s communities.
