Biological Incidents Awareness

Biological incidents can occur naturally, accidentally, or as the result of a deliberate act. This awareness-level course provides participants with foundational knowledge to recognize a potential biological incident, report it appropriately, and take steps to protect themselves and others.

Participants are introduced to biological incidents that have occurred in the recent past, biological agents of concern, the typical course of disease and how it may differ during a deliberate incident, and the potential use of biological agents as terrorist weapons. The course also examines practical methods of protection, with an emphasis on measures and equipment readily available to emergency responders and the general public.

This self-directed, online course serves as an introduction to biological incident preparedness and provides foundational knowledge for participants who may continue their training through NCBRT’s Emergency Response to Domestic Biological Incidents course.
