Introduction and Application of Exercise Planning for Schools Workshop

 

Course Overview 

This workshop is a four-hour training that walks participants through the best practices for the development and delivery of school emergency management exercises. In particular, participants will learn how to take portions of a school’s high quality emergency plan to use as a foundation for a discussion-based tabletop exercise. Additionally, workshop attendees will learn how to develop exercise objectives, determine a realistic scenario, construct actionable discussion questions, and gain experience on how to facilitate a tabletop exercise.

Target Audience 

This workshop is intended for district or school administrators, principals, teachers, school psychologists, facilities managers, transportation managers, school resource officers, and community partners with roles in creating and maintaining school crisis plans and emergency operations plans (EOPs), as well as anyone who may be involved in exercise development and delivery.
