In 2015, LSU NCBRT/ACE identified a need to enhance its support for Tribal Nations and made a firm commitment to improve the quality and quantity of Tribal training. That year, LSU NCBRT/ACE created a program focused on nurturing stronger connections with Tribal Nations and raising awareness about the training and resources available to Indian Country. This initiative marked a significant milestone in the organization's commitment to Tribal Nations and collaboration in emergency preparedness and response efforts.
The appointment of Robert Holden and Steven Golubic as Tribal Liaisons in 2015 marked the beginning of LSU NCBRT/ACE’s endeavors to develop and implement the Tribal Program. They spearhead outreach initiatives, facilitate communication with tribal leaders and program officials, and provide invaluable guidance to ensure the seamless execution of the program. Under their stewardship, the Tribal Program has broadened its scope to encompass a diverse range of topics pertinent to emergency preparedness and response.
In 2021, LSU NCBRT/ACE welcomed Tribal Training Manager Ashlie Dubuy, a pivotal addition aimed at enhancing relationships with Tribal communities and further solidifying the organization's commitment to fostering meaningful partnerships with Tribal Nations. Her role underscores our continued support in engaging with and meeting the needs of Tribal Nations.
Since its inception, LSU NCBRT/ACE has trained over 6,500 citizens from more than 80 Tribes, marking a significant milestone in its mission to serve Tribes.
Despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, LSU NCBRT/ACE remained committed to providing essential training and support during challenging times. The organization hosted ten Tribal Dialogue Sessions via Zoom, reaching a total of 601 participants. These sessions covered a range of topics relevant to Tribal emergency management, providing leaders and emergency responders with valuable insights and lessons learned from their peers. LSU NCBRT/ACE also conducted 19 virtual deliveries specifically for Tribal audiences and trained 422 participants.
