World Cup 2026 Base Camps
What is a Team Base Camp?
A Team Base Camp (TBC) is the official home-away-from-home for each national team during the group stage of the FIFA World Cup 2026™. It combines a training facility where teams can practice and prepare for matches, with a hotel where players and staff can rest, recover, and plan.
Each team stays at its chosen base camp throughout the group stage, using it as a central location for daily routines, recovery, and tactical preparation.
How Cities Are Selected as FIFA Team Base Camp Locations
So how does a city get selected to host a team during the biggest football tournament in the world? Here’s what FIFA looks for:
World-Class Training + Comfortable Stay
To be considered, a city must offer:
- A professional-quality training facility, including a full-size pitch, locker rooms, and space for private sessions.
- A high-standard hotel located nearby that supports the needs of elite players—such as tailored meals, meeting rooms, and restful environments.
Easy Access Between Hotel and Field
Convenience matters. The training facility and hotel should be within a short drive of each other to ensure the team can move easily between training and rest.
Safety, Privacy & Support Services
FIFA also evaluates whether the city can provide:
- Secure and private environments
- Reliable logistics and transportation
- Access to medical and emergency services, and support for international teams
The Team Base Camp Brochure
Cities that meet FIFA’s standards are featured in the Team Base Camp brochure, which helps teams evaluate their options. The third edition of this brochure was released in April 2025, with more updates coming throughout the year.
What Happens Next?
The final draw is expected to take place in December 2025, revealing the teams group stage match locations. Each team will submit their selections for base camps to FIFA that best fits their needs and match schedule.
